Nene White Water Course - An Overview

The Nene White Water Course is a great little course located just outside Northampton.

It has access from the A45 and M1 motorway to make it real easy to get to. It's one of a handful of artificial white water courses in the UK.

It's the UK's first pump fed course which means water is pumped from the lower river level to the top and then allowed to flow down the course creating the white water rapids.

There are three pumps for maximum flow and it is most common that two pumps are running. This creates super consistent grade 2 to 3 rapids.

The course runs in a loop away from the pumps and then back around to finish on the opposite side of the pumps.

The length of the course is approximately 300 metres.

Along the course, there are a number of drops interspersed with deeper pools.

Plastic blocks are used to create drops and obstacles in the flows. The flow is consistent and makes for some nice play opportunities.

The water is fairly shallow for the length of the course so any swims are easy to recover from. although rolling can be tricky outside of the deeper pools.

There are two or three favoured play waves - although most of the waves can be fun.

It's great for wave surfing practice and enjoyable as the flow isn't too demanding.
